What are Solar panels?

There are two types of Solar panels that are installed by Ecoten Ltd

Solar thermal hot water systems

Solar thermal hot water systems allow solar panels to be installed on your homes roof and radiant heat from the sun can be used to provide domestic hot water only. This hot water can cover 50% of the amount required for washing and bathing. The panels will work in conjunction with your heating system and you will need an unvented twin coil cylinder which allows pipes to be connected directly from the solar panels. Also during times when insufficient solar energy is not available the top section only of the storage cylinder is heated by water circulation through the top coil from the central heating boiler or electric immersion heater.

The surface of the solar panels is blackened to enable more efficiency when absorbing solar energy and the main type of panel installed is known as a flat plate connector mounted over the roof covering as opposes too glass vacuum tube collectors.

Within the tubes that flow through the flat panels there is a mix of antifreeze and food grade glycol which is circulated to carry heat from the collector to the storage vessel. One or two layers of glass or transparent plastic separated by air are incorporated above the plate to trap the energy. The glazing minimises heat radiation from the collector. Insulating the back and sides of the collector as well as the pipes leading to and from the cylinder further reduces heat losses.

Solar PV systems (Photovoltaic)

PV systems enable you to generate some of the energy used to power your heat pump, therefore reducing your energy bill. Plus you’ll qualify for income payments through the Government’s Feed-in Tariff

Ground Mounted Solar PV Systems
Ecoten are able to specify and install superior ground mounted solar PV systems for customers with sufficient land available to them. From initial specification through to installation and ultimately application for Feed-in-Tariff payments Ecoten will support and guide you through the process.

Domestic Roof Mounted

Enabling you to reduce electricity bills and benefit from generous Feed-in-Tariff payments. The combination of our specialist design, use of high quality components and experienced specialist installers ensures your system and its performance will meet all your expectations.

Large-Scale Roof Mounted Solar PV Systems

Our solar photovolatic (solar PV) proposition also extends to large-scale roof mounted systems ideal for offices, industrial units and public buildings. As with our other PV solutions, Ecoten will ensure all products and installations qualify for the relevant Feed-in-Tariff payment schemes to provide a return on investment and a reduction in electricity bills.
